Big Brothers of London was incorporated in April 1971 by a steering committee under the leadership of Provincial Court Judge Maurice Genest. The original Committee, which consisted of 29 citizens, proceeded to hire a full-time Executive Director to coordinate the functions of the organization. Up until 1975, the funds were realized through donations of corporations, individuals, Civic foundations and two major fundraising efforts. In 1975, United Way Funding began in the London organization.

The agency is governed by volunteer Board of Directors who establish policies for the agency and hire an Executive Director to manage agency operations.

The agency is staffed with professional caseworkers who screen and match volunteers to boys referred to the program.

An Annual Report is completed in May of each year and is included in the website for Big Brothers of London.

Big Brothers of London recruits Board and Committee members with varied backgrounds including accounting, legal, fundraising, sales, marketing and public service.

People who are interested in Board or Committee involvementĀ are requested to contact the Executive Director.
